Located in Akron, Ohio, our featured course this week is the South Course at Firestone Country Club. Originally opened in 1929, the course was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones in preparation for the 1960 PGA Championship.
Some still refer to this course fondly as “The Monster”, after Arnold Palmer commented after scoring a triple-bogey on the 16th hole.
Tips: Hit it long and straight. Be mindful of the landing zones – lots of bunkers and some water to make this tract interesting and challenging for golfers of all skill levels.
